Utusan Malaysia a Laughing Stock

The collective "persecution syndrome" of Utusan Malaysia is fast picking up steam, escalating to a level of near insanity.

Big chaos will ensue if no treatment is being urgently sought on these people!

This Malay daily is getting increasingly ill. For instance, it published in its Op-Ed column on Tuesday a provocative piece titled Melayu Jangan Jadi Bacul (Malays must not be cowards), in which the author expressed his exaggerated concern that the Chinese and Indians would get too powerful, resulting in the Malays having to relinquish all the key positions in the government as well as their privileges and NEP.

What made me want to laugh out loud was this:

"Serangan dan penghinaan pembangkang dan aktivis politik Cina dan India terhadap Melayu semakin menjadi-jadi. Mereka sengaja menunjukkan keberanian dan tindakan kurang ajar. Cuma mereka belum berarak dan membuka butang seluar seperti sewaktu Tragedi 13 Mei."

(The assaults and hatred of the opposition as well as Chinese and Indian political activists towards the Malays have gained momentum. They deliberately show off their bravery and acts of bad manners, only that they do not take to the street and unzip their pants as they did during the May 13 tragedy.)

"Only people suffering from terminal "persecution syndrome" could have possibly stretched their imagination to such wild extents."

Wow! Looks like the intensity of their illness has developed into an awful sex-and-violence illusion!

The author came to the conclusion:

"Anehnya ramai juga orang Melayu-Islam yang ikut benci kepada kuasa bangsa sendiri. Bangsa Melayu sudah menjadi bangsa yang tolol dan bacul."

(Weirdly enough many Malay-Muslims abhor the power of their own race. The Malays have become a cowardly race.)

I'm afraid the author is out of his mind. As a matter of fact, only people suffering from terminal "persecution syndrome" could have possibly stretched their imagination to such wild extents.

In another article titled The Malays are not aware they're despised, the rally calling for the repeal of the ISA was interpreted as the Malays being manipulated by the Chinese and Indians to hit the street to oppose the ISA meant to protect the rights of the Malays!

Good Heavens! I never knew the Chinese and Indians could have such mystical power to send tens of thousands of Malays to the street.

I was equally amazed by the new-found functionality of the ISA: to protect a particular ethnic group in this country!

Sorry, I've been exhausted by my own laughters that I could not gather any more strength to rebut the Utusan absurdities.

That level of brain anomaly has rendered any need for arguments by sensible and rational people with them completely irrelevant!

That said, I'm curious how the government people would view the words of these chaps.

Perhaps Dr Koh Tsu Koon, the minister in charge of Unity and Performance Management, should study how much Utusan has contributed towards national unity.

And those in the PM's office must also make the additional effort to understand how much the newspaper has done for the noble "1Malaysia" vision.

Fortunately, the overwhelming majority of Malays, Chinese, Indians and other peoples who are absolutely normal in their thinking treat Utusan nothing more than just a laughing stock. (By TAY TIAN YAN/Translated by DOMINIC LOH/Sin Chew Daily)

IGP Must Go !

KUALA LUMPUR, July 28 – Lim Kit Siang today slammed the Prime Minister’s crime reduction target saying that it was four years too late, and demanded the country’s top cop be held accountable for the high crime rate.

“Najib’s KPI for crime prevention to reduce street crime by 20 per cent in 2010 is late by four years and should have covered all categories of crime as proposed by the Dzaiddin Police Royal Commission in its report in May 2005,” said Lim, referring to the commission formed in 2004 to improve the force.

The commission had then proposed for the crime rate to be reduced by 20 per cent in 12 months, he added.

Lim was speaking at the opening of a round-table forum entitled, ‘New Inspector-General of Police for a Safe Malaysia’ at Parliament House here this morning.

Yesterday Datuk Seri Najib Razak announced a target to reduce the street crime rate by 20 per cent in 2010 as one of the key performance indicators (KPI) of the six national key results area.

The roundtable was convened to call on the government to appoint a new IGP and not to extend Tan Sri Musa Hassan’s service.

“When the Dzaiddin Royal Police Commission submitted its final report in May 2005, it said that Malaysia’s reputation as a safe country was ‘seriously dented’ by the ‘dramatic increase’ in the incidence of crime in the past few years,”said the Ipoh Timor MP.

“Instead of achieving the Police Royal Commission’s target of reducing the intolerably high incidence of crime of 156,455 cases in 2004 by 20 per cent in 12 months (i.e. 125,164 cases), the reverse took place,” he added.

Lim pointed out that from 2004, when the commission report was tabled to last year, the crime index has increased by 35.5 per cent.

The veteran parliamentarian added that based on the increased crime rate alone Musa should have resigned and his contract should not be renewed.

“The re-appointment of Musa for another term of IGP cast an adverse aspersion on all the senior police officers, as if there is not a single one out of the eight top police officers occupying key police positions below the post of IGP who are qualified or competent enough to become the new IGP to provide a new police leadership and culture to roll back the tide of crime in the past five years,” said Lim.

Musa reached his retirement age in 2007, but has continued to serve for another two years with his extension scheduled to expire in September.

It is understood that the Police Commission has recommended another extension for him.

Suruhanjaya Bebas Mesti Di Tubuhkan

KUALA TERENGGANU – Pengerusi DAP Terengganu, Ng Chai Heng mencadangkan suruhanjaya bebas ditubuhkan bagi menyiasat kematian Setiausaha Politik kepada ahli Exco Kerajaan Selangor, Teoh Beng Hock.

Chai Heng berkata, suruhanjaya itu dilihat lebih telus dan mampu meningkatkan keyakinan rakyat terhadap kerajaan serta agensi berkaitan pada masa depan terutama Suruhanjaya Pencegahan Rasuah Malaysia (SPRM) kerana mendiang meninggal dunia selepas memberi keterangan selama lapan jam di sana.:

“Kami yakin suruhanjaya ini dapat menyiasat kes secara terperinci tetapi kami tetap positif terhadap siasatan polis dan berharap ia dilaksanakan dengan adil bagi mengenal pasti punca kejadian sama ada berunsurkan jenayah atau sebaliknya,” katanya.

Beng Hock ditemui mati di Tingkat 5, Bangunan Plaza Masalam Shah Alam dipercayai terjatuh dari tingkat 14, Pejabat SPRM Selangor dan ditemui orang awam kira-kira jam 1.30 tengah hari, kelmarin (16 Julai).

Pengumuman Najib hanya retorik

KUALA TERENGGANU – Parti DAP Terengganu menganggap 11 perkara penting yang diumumkan Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Abdul Razak untuk perubahan rakyat sempena 100 hari sebagai Perdana Menteri sebagai retorik.

Pengerusinya, Ng Chai Heng berkata, pengumuman tersebut adalah untuk me-ngambil hati masyarakat yang menolak kepimpinan Barisan Nasional (BN) pada Pilihan Raya Umum ke-12 lalu.

“Sepatutnya kerajaan beri kepentingan kepada perkara yang perlu diselesaikan terlebih dahulu. Contohnya rasuah dengan tindakan segera dari segi pelaksanaan dan pencegahan.

“Kita melihat ini sebagai satu retorik semata-mata hanya untuk memenangi kembali hati rakyat,” katanya.

Menurutnya, walaupun memerangi rasuah termasuk dalam 11 perkara disebut Najib, ia dilihat terlalu umum dan tiada penjelasan lanjut berhubung inisiatif dilakukan untuk mengatasinya.
