Umno is ‘outsourcing its extremist demands’ to Perkasa – Kit Siang

DAP stalwart Lim Kit Siang is accusing Umno for ‘outsourcing its extremist demands’ to the Malay rights group Perkasa led by Datuk Ibrahim Ali.

This came in light after Ibrahim called on the BN (Barisan Nasional) government to review its promises and pledges to the Chinese community of Hulu Selangor where it was reported that a majority of them voted for the opposition instead of the BN who won the by-election.

Lim told a local news portal that “It is very clear that Umno has outsourced its extremist demands to Perkasa.

The voice of Perkasa represents (the views) of the Umno extremists. This was a test for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak on whether his 1 Malaysia concept of unity was actually practised or a mere farce.

This is evidence of the failure of 1 Malaysia. The victory of BN in Hulu Selangor, is it the victory of 1 Malaysia? Perkasa’s demands are completely against the 1 Malaysia concept and undermining it entirely.

The onus was now on Najib as well as Chinese parties in BN such as the MCA and Gerakan to respond, and their response will be gauged to determine whether they were truly free to voice out their opinions or be mere “pawns” of Umno.

The MCA, Gerakan leadership should demonstrate whether they are willing to be held to ransom by Umno (or otherwise). Are they mere pawns of Umno?”
